DIY TEEPEE!

So, I have been drooling hard over these dreamy teepees I have been seeing on Pinterest, and cabin fever has set in hard. Spring time, a campfire, an outdoor teepee with twinkle lights and some First Aid Kit playing in the background. Yeah. I can't wait for this summer.

Anyways, I naturally have been dreaming and scheming up DIY projects to prepare for the lovely summertime. This DIY is for a handmade Boho teepee! It's pretty cheap, totally fun, and COMPLETELY customizable. It could be used indoor or (temporarily) outdoor. I'd probably bring it in or at least put it under a porch roof overnight.

LET'S GET STARTED! Here are the materials you will need.

WOOD: I went to Home Depot and asked for their "sale" wood. The one I was at had a pile of sale wood in the back. The plus side.....I got 5 pieces of 1" X 2" wood for TWENTY CENTS EACH. The downside, it had purple paint sprayed across parts of it, I had to dig for it, and I had to saw it myself (and by "I" I mean my boyfriend).

Alternative Finding straight-ish long sticks to make your teepee a little more au natural. I would suggest leaving the sticks to dry for a good 5-7 days before using them in this project.

SCREWS: I got a variety pack of nails and screws for about $7. I figured that I would use them for other projects soon. For this project, we used about 7 screws.

FABRIC: I wanted to try to keep this project as cheap as possible. I looked around the fabric section of Walmart (I know, I know, shun the huge corporation, I'm with you...) But really, I found fabric for one dollar a yard. ONE DOLLAR. FOR A YARD. So that's where I got my fabric, and I used some that I had lying around. I ended up with a thin white fabric, a ilky lavendar color, a white lace, and a tribal patterned rough cotton.

Lastly, you will need any decorative things you want to add to your teepee. I suggest Boho accent pillows, blankets, dreamcatchers, feathers, silk flowers, lanterns, small white Christmas lights, and candles. Make it dreamy, people!

So putting this bad boy together.....Rob and I (again, just Rob) screwed the wood pieces together. I wish I had a scientific way of explaining this process. But we literally just held up the pieces to look like a teepee frame, and started going mad with his power drill. Tee hee. We put one smaller piece of wood across the frame horizontally for draping fabric over for the door.

After that was all said and done, Sam and I just decorated the thing! We draped the different fabrics around it, tied some off with yarn, and put up different little decorational things. My favorite part was stringing the little white Christmas lights up inside the top of the teepee.

We hung up dreamcatchers in it, put some candles around it, cut up fabric into strips to make streamers, and voila! We had some fun with this photoshoot.
